Bio

Hi, I’m Jake and I’m a Peer Worker with lived experience of mental health distress. I use my relational skills and shared experience to hold open, non-judgemental spaces for others to work on recovery. I’m passionate about ensuring lived experience voices are involved in all decisions made about them; this includes service design, policy creation, and decisions made about a person’s treatment within a service.

A massive challenge lived experience advocates face when promoting change in the larger mental health system is how well-established problematic values and policies are. Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy being so innovative is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to create a system born out of unconditional positive regard for a person’s experience and autonomy. I’m dedicated to shaping a system of connection, authenticity, diversity, humanity, human rights, and mutuality.
